W imieniu Polskiego Towarzystwa Fizycznego - jako przewodniczacy
jego Oddzialu Katowickiego - wyrazam wielkie podziekowanie
"Dziennikowi Zachodniemu" za jego inicjatywe wmurowania tablicy
pamiatkowej poswieconej Marii Goeppert-Mayer, urodzonej tu w
Katowicach wielkiej niemiecko-amerykanskiej uczonej, laureatce
nagrody Nobla z fizyki w 1963 roku. Dziekuje takze "Dziennikowi
Zachodniemu" za wsparcie finansowe w wielu aspektach dzisiejszej
specjalnej sesji naukowej Polskiego Towarzystwa Fizycznego
poswieconej dzielu i osobie Marii Goeppert-Mayer. Chcemy
spopularyzowac jej idee, przede wszystkim model powlokowy
struktury jadra atomowego, i chcemy aby mlode pokolenie uzyskalo
dzieki temu w jej osobie wzor do nasladowania.
Drodzy Przyjaciele - Na sesje zapraszam wszystkich obecnych.
Sesja odbedzie sie w Instytucie Fizyki Uniwersytetu Slaskiego
ul. Uniwersytecka 4. Poczatek sesji o godzinie 12.00.
Zakonczenie sesji przewidujemy przed godzina 14.00. Na sesji
przedstawia referaty w nastepujacej kolejnosci:
dr Piotr Greiner - historyk Uniwersytetu Slaskiego oraz dwaj
wybitni fizycy: prof. Stanislaw Szpikowski z Uniwersytetu Marii
Curie-Sklodowskiej z Lublina i prof. Theo Mayer-Kuckuk,
wiceprezydent Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft czyli
Niemieckiego Towarzystwa Fizycznego. Obaj ci profesorowie znali
rowniez osobiscie Marie Goeppert-Mayer.
Pragne poinformowac, ze Oddzial Katowicki Polskiego Towarzystwa
Fizycznego postanowil zwrocic sie do wladz Uniwersytetu
Slaskiego z propozycja nadania imienia Marii Goeppert-Mayer
jednej z sal wykladowych w Instytucie Fizyki.
In the name of the Polish Physical Society - as the President of
the Katowice Branch - I would like to express our great
gratitude to the daily "Dziennik Zachodni" for its initiative of
commemoration Maria Goeppert-Mayer, the great German-American
scientist, the Nobel Prize winner in physics, born here in
Katowice. I thank also "Dziennik Zachodni" for financial support
in many respects of the today's special meeting of the Polish
Physical Society devoted to the work and the person of Maria
Goeppert-Mayer. We want to popularize her ideas, first of all:
the shell model of nuclear structure, and we want also the young
generation to take pattern by Maria Goeppert-Mayer.
Dear Friends ! Let me invite you to participate in this meeting
which will take place in the Institute of Physics of the
University of Silesia 4 Uniwersytecka street betwen 12 o'clock
and 14 o'clock. Three lectures will be presented in the
following order by:
dr Piotr Greiner a historian of the University of Silesia and the
two distinguished physicists: prof. Stanislaw Szpikowski of the
Maria Curie-Sklodowska University Lublin and prof. Theo Mayer
Kuckuk vicepresident of the German Physical Society. These two
professors knew Maria Goeppert-Mayer also personally.
I would like to inform you that the Katowice Branch of the PPS intends to make a proposal to the University authorities to
give one of the lecture rooms in the Institute of Physics the name of Maria Goeppert-Mayer.
Namens der Polnischen Physikalischen Gesellschaft - als President
der Katowice Filiale - moechte ich recht herzlich danken dem
Tageblatt "Dziennik Zachodni" fuer seine Initiative um Maria
Goeppert-Mayer, die grosse Deutsch-Amerikanische
Wissenschaftlerin, die Nobel Preistraegerin in Physik, geboren
hier in Katowice, Ehrung erweisen. Ich danke auch "Dziennik
Zachodni" fuer die Finanzunterstuetzung in verschiedenen Respekte
der heutigen Sondersitzung der P.P.S., gewidmeten dem Werk und
der Person von Maria Goeppert-Mayer. Wir wollen ihre Ideen, vor
allem das Schalenmodell des Atomkerns, popularisieren und wir
wollen auch der jungen Generation Maria Goeppert-Mayer als Muster
hinstellen.
Liebe Freunde ! Ich moechte Sie herzlich einladen um in dieser
Sitzung im Institut fuer Physik der Universitat von Schlesien
Uniwersytecka Str. 4 zwischen 12 und 14 Uhr teilzunehmen.
Drei Vortrage werden drei Wissenschaftler der Reihe nach halten:
Dr. Piotr Greiner ein Historiker von Universitaet von Schlesien
und zwei beruehmte Physiker: Prof. Stanislaw Szpikowski von der
Maria Curie-Sklodowska Universitaet Lublin und Prof. Theo
Mayer-Kuckuk, Vizepresident der Deutschen Physikalischen
Gesellschaft. Die beiden Professoren lernten Maria Goeppert-Mayer
auch persoenlich kennen.
Ich moechte auch Ihnen eine Nachricht mitteilen dass die Katowice
Filiale der P.P.G. die Absicht hat um den Universitaetsbehorden zu
vorschlagen einem von den Horsale im Institut fuer Physik den
Vornamen von Maria Goeppert-Mayer geben.
